Once In A Lifetime by Moss Hart and George Kaufman
Our first Studio Project for second year concluded last October 19 and 20, 2016 in one of the classrooms of the third floor of the Juilliard building. I am very grateful that we get to spend the first two years of our training in studio projects before they let the public watch us in actual "performance spaces" with lights, set, costumes and makeup. I appreciate the time to truly investigate my habits and the safe space to explore other ways of approaching the work. One of my biggest takeaways in this project is being reminded of acting as "child-like play." I haven't had as much fun telling this story for a long time. It is being able to drop into the circumstances of the character and the play like how my siblings and I used to do so in our backyard. Only this time I have new and bigger playmates.
Shakespeare Project
I am so excited for this slot. The faculty has selected half of the class to do Hamlet and the other half to do Julius Caesar. I'm in Julius Caesar (playing Portia, among others) and it's great because I haven't done that play before and I am not as familiar with it as I am with Hamlet. I got all of these books to help me throughout the entire process. We are currently in the process of doing table-work for the play.
